For those who live nearby, working with Meagan on location at her Rafter B Ranch in Hiawatha, Kansas is the preferred choice. Most students work with Meagan once or twice a week. Some choose to board their horses at the Rafter B while others haul-in. The Rafter B also has great lesson horses that instill confidence in new riders or those returning to riding after an injury or time off.
Horses build confidence and knowledge with Meagan as their patient teacher. Horses who are already broke to ride and are working under saddle will benefit by working with Meagan on a daily basis. Their riders and/or owners are encouraged to take instruction during their horses training. Private instruction on their horse in training is included with training.
Meagan hosts clinics at her ranch in as well as off site across the Midwest. Students learn Western Dressage Basics, will ride a test and learn how to scribe and call tests. Meagan is always up to travel to your location if there are riders in your area that want to learn and enjoy! Clinic Schedule
After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in Kinesiology, Meagan continued her career in training horses and their people. An instructor and trainer with over twenty years experience in the equine industry, Meagan began training in dressage in 2008. In 2018, she took an interest in western dressage as a continuum to her existing training.
The Western Dressage community has at its core, the belief that western dressage should be inclusive to all, natural for the horse and fun for both. Already a proponent of this living philosophy, Meagan began honing her skills in the discipline. She and her horses embarked on a journey that would take them all the way to the Western Dressage World Show in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Today, she and her students work together to embody the Western Dressage principles and philosophy. She is loved and admired by the horse loving women she instructs, trains and rides with.
Inclusive. That is what comes to mind in the Western Dressage culture. As a rider you will experience people from all walks of life. Women and men participate in the sport together with perhaps the largest number of Sen-Agers, (senior citizens) in any equine sport. Horses of all breeds, sizes and ages compete and flourish due to the diverse levels of competition. Western Dressage also improves the connection and communication between you and your horse regardless your riding interest and discipline. It is perfect for those who want to compete in the various levels or others who may just want to achieve a greater communication with their equine partner.
“Meagan is great with both horses & people! I am unbalanced so I take lessons with my mare to help us both. Meagan corrects us (mostly me) where needed but also compliments what is right & never makes me feel self conscious or stupid for my mistakes!! Shorty & I are becoming a better team thanks to her!”

“I was fortunate enough to spend three days in a row taking lessons from Meagan here at the Rafter B Ranch. And since then, I have NEVER felt more confident in a saddle. The way she teaches was something I haven’t been able to receive yet and I learned loads from her. She broke down and spoke with me about areas to improve, how to improve, and cheered me on when it all finally clicked.’ Rebecca Thornton
I have worked with a lot of instructors. Meagan is by far the most supportive. She has helped me overcome challenges and regain confidence after an injury.”
